| It was Valentine's day, 1998. 16 year old Elizabeth Webber finally asked the guy she had been madly in love with for months, Lucky Spencer to go with her to the school Valentine's day dance. Lucky was unawhere of Liz's feelings for him and he only thought of her as a friend, he was more interrested in her older sister, Sarah, but he agreed to go to the dance with Liz. Elizabeth was estatic, she and her grandmother, Audrey went out shopping so Liz could pick out the perfect dress to wear because she knew if Lucky would just notice her, he would never even want to look at another girl again. Meanwhile, Sarah who had been dumped by her boyfriend and Lucky's enemy, his half brother, Nikolas Cassadine, came to Lucky and asked if he would be her date to the dance, Lucky couldn't resist, saying yes and agreed to go with her. Later, the normaly gallant Lucky stops by Liz's house and tells her he is going to take Sarah to the dance because she doesn't have anyone to go with, but says Liz can still come with them. Liz quickly lies to Lucky that the school football star, Chad Randell asked her to the dance earlier, but she was already going with Lucky, so now she can just tell him that she can go with him insted. Lucky tells Liz that he will see her at the dance and leaves. Too embaressed to tell Audrey, Liz gets all dressed up to go, Audrey gives Liz the bracelet given to her by Liz's grandfather, the late Steve Hardy. A broken hearted Liz lies to Audrey and goes to a movie alone instead. After the dance, Lucky, Sarah and her friend go to Kelly's diner. Lucky wondered why he never saw Liz at the dance, then Chad Randell came in and Lucky asked him where Liz was, Chad was clueless to knowing any Liz. Lucky realized Liz had lied and he decided to go find her to see why she didn't show up. Sarah was surprised that he was leaving, but Lucky told her that the whole time she was talking about Nikolas and it wasn't his idea of fun, and he left her there with her friend. When the movie ended, it was late, but not late enough, Liz wanted to kill time before she returned home so she decided to take a stroll through the park. She sat down on a bench to finish her popcorn. Everything was eerily silent as Liz sat there alone, she thought she was alone, but from behind her two hands suddenly grabbed her. She tried fighting the man, but he was too strong. He pulled Liz into the bushes and raped her. Moments later it was over, the masked man left Liz in the park. Lucky arrived, but he was too late, he heard someone in the bushes and turned to see as Liz stumbled out. "Elizabeth" Lucky said. Liz looked up shocked and Lucky saw it all in her eyes, he knew what had happened. Lucky promised his frightened friend that he would help. Because she refused to go to the police, the hospital or home, Lucky took her back with him to his house so his aunt Bobbie was a nurse could help her. When they got to his house, Lucky tried calling, but realized he had to go get his aunt Bobie himself, only if Liz didn't mind being alone for a little while, but she said she wants some time alone. Lucky made sure his dog Foster would keep an eye on Liz for him. After Lucky left, Liz feeling ashamed and dirty took a shower. Coming back down stairs, Liz saw the front doorknob turning. "No, no!" She cried believing it was her attacker, but it was Lucky's father, Luke. When the door opened he saw Liz who looked like she was about to jump out of her skin she was so frightened. Luke tried to assure her it was ok, he won't hurt her. Just then, Lucky comes in with Bobbie and sees Luke and how scared Liz is. When Bobbie asked Liz what happened, she denied that she was raped, saying the guy just attacked her, but they knew the truth and so did Liz eventhough she tried to convince herself otherwise. While Bobie took Liz upstairs to examine her, Lucky stayed with his father and told him whta happened and that he didn't know what kind of guy could do this. "You can't understand, Lucky. Don't even try." Luke told his son. Guilt crushed inside of Luke who was responsible for the same crime that was committed against Liz. Before he married her, Lukle had raped his beloved Laura. But Lucky didn't know, he could never know. When Liz came back down stairs, she begge dthe three of them not to tall her grandmother, Liz was so ashamed, her grandmother can't know. Lucky disagreed but took Liz home. When the two left, Bobie just looked at Luke knowing that he had once committed the same crime, disgusted she walked out. Lucky took Liz home and going inside, Audrey found her, Liz was cleaned up so Audrey didn't suspect a thing and Liz didn't tell her. Lucky just stood tehre out on the porch alone. How could this have happened he wondered, desperately needing answers. The next day, Lucky saw Liz didn't come to school so he went to the hospital to talk to Bobbiewhen Audrey found them and explained that Liz said she had the flu. Clueless of what really happened, Audrey thanked Lucky for taking Liz to the dance because Liz had never been more happy when she was planning to go with Lucky. And that she didn't have to worry about Liz being out late because she was with him. Bobbie, seeing how uncomfortable Lucky was, stopped Audrey. After Audrey left, Bobbie told Lucky she knows that must have been difficult, but Lucky grabbed his coat and told Bobbie that if Liz and Audrey think he is such a great guy then why doesn't he go be one and left. Lucky went to LIz's house and knocked on her front door, but there was no answer. He knocked again and again, knowing she was in the house, but Liz just lay upstairs in her bed and didn't even move. After a while a frustrated Lucky left. The next day, Lucky returns to Liz's house after school because she hadn't gone that day either. This time, Liz answered the door and Lucky gave her her homework, but told her it was really just an excuse to see her. The two start discussing the attack and Liz still refuses to seek professional help. Liz starts to choke on her tears and finally admits to Lucky that she was raped. Lucky pulled his frightened friend into a hug and held her. Days later, Liz returned to work at Kelly's where every guy she saw she thought he was the one who raped her. Sarah who had seen the bruises on her sister's arms comes in and tries to get Lucky to tell her what happened, but Lucky keeping his promise to Liz said nothing. When Liz ran outside frightened, Sarah followed Liz whol broke down and told her sister that she was raped. Sarah offered a comforting shoulder and convinced Liz to tell Audrey, Liz refused. But days later, Liz finally broke down in front of Audrey and admitted she was raped. But Audrey's reacted strangely to the news and told Liz just to move on and not deal with it. Lucky was by Liz's side as she confessed. Before Lucky left, he admitted to Sarah that he blamed himself because he should have been there with Liz that night. Lucky went to Luke for answers, but all Luke could think about was when he had raped his future wife, Laura. Bobbie wanted Luke to tell Lucky the truth, but Luke hoped Lucky would never find out, but he did. Lucky went back to the park to find clues on who raped Liz when he encountered his half brother, Nikolas. When Nikolas mentioned Laura, Lucky attacked Nikolas because he believed Nikolas came to be because his father, Stavros had raped their mother. Lucky threw it in Nikolas' face, but Nikolas shot back, knowing the truth, he told him Stavros didn't rape their mother, Luke did. Lucky, appropiately stuned by the news didn't believe him until Nikolas asurred him proof could easily be found. And it was, Lucky got answers and realized it was true. When he asked Bobbie point blank, she refused to answer, giving Lucky his answer. When Luke found Lucky, he had already packed a bag and was on his way out of the house. Luke looked at Lucky and knew why. Lucky wouldn't dsay anything to Luke, but when Luke grabbed Lucky away from the front door, Lucky told him he want to hear him say the words, he needs him to say it. Finally Luke admitted. "A long time ago, in another lifetiem, I raped your mother." Lucky stood thereand looked at Luke. "I never thought I'd hate you, but I do, I hate you, I hate you more than anyone." Lucky said through tears. A visibly crushed Luke knew right there that he ahd lost his son. Lucky begged him to tell him the whole story, Luke was reluctant at first, but he did. Afterwards, Lucky picked up his bag. "Great story, dad. Makes me really proud" he said as walked out the door, leaving Luke alone in complete sorrow. Lucky was going to leave town, but went to Liz to say goodbye. He told her what happened, but she convinced him to stay. At first, Lucky stayed on Liz's bedroom floor, it made her feel safe, but Audrey found out and told him to leave, upset, Liz ran away alone with Lucky, but eventually she returned home. Liz questioned why Audrey had a strange reaction to the rape and Audrey admitted she had been raped a long time ago. The two try to help eachother heal. But Liz's true friend was Lucky who was there for her even as he had to deal with his own family problems especially when his mother returned to town. But Liz and Lucky helped eachother and in return they would fall in love. |
